To or from?

I am writing a cover letter, and I'm wondering which of the following is correct.

Please find attached my CV in application to the position of Administrator as advertised on Monster.

Please find attached my CV in application for the position of Administrator as advertised on Monster.

I would appreciate it if somebody would let me know which is correct.

Many thanks

Thanks! Do you know if it's a matter of preference depending on which country you are in?

I have been using "to" for years now as I remember seeing that written in a cover letter template. However, I did a google search today and couldn't find many entries for that.

Write an email to the HR director (or contact) for a job opening or position with an application form attached.

Bizarre. I'm sure it was the Guardian Jobs website (UK newspaper) that I found the template on. I've been using that line for about 7 years!!
