To mount + preposition

1."The logo is mounted to the wall"

When you're talking about an object that is fixed on something, can you always use to for any other objects?

2."The fan is mounted to the ceiling"

3."The statue is mounted to the table"

4."The gatling gun is mounted to the jeep"

Or do each of them require a different preposition?

Thank you

I would normally use "mounted on ". I can't think of any case where I would naturally use "mounted to", though I would not say that it is definitely wrong. I don't think I would use "mounted" at all in the case of a fan suspended from the ceiling.

  • It also seems faintly odd to me to have a statue mounted on a table.
