"to make fun of" - other ways to say it

Hey guys Emotion: smile

I'd be pleased if one of you could explain me something more about this idiom

"to make fun of someone"

I perfectly know what it means, I was just wondering if there are other ways to say it.

For example somewhere I hear these:

"to kid someone" - "to play someone around" - "to joke someone"

Are they right? Is there any difference among them?

Could you clarify it or give me some examples?

Cheers [H]

1-- to make fun of someone 2-- to kid someone 3-- to play around with someone 4-- to joke about someone They are all vaguely similar and could usually be used in similar contexts. #1 and #4 do not require the presence of the person being belittled; #2 and #3 are actions taken against the belittled person him/herself.
