Hello,
Do the sentences below sound okay in everyday speech:
- If you do that, you will only compound the problem. - It probably sounds unnatural.
- If you do that, you will only exacerbate the problem. - Probably the best.
- If you do that, you will only aggravate the problem.
- If you do that, you will make the problem even worse. - I'm not sure it works.
- If you do that, you will only worsen the problem. - I don't think I'd use it, but I wonder if it sounds natural to you.

They all seem natural enough to me. Exacerbate is the most formal.
