Vocabulary

to look around for something

Hello,
If I were in a supermarket, would it be natural if I said to a friend of mine "Let's look around for (some) rice/popcorn/etc?" Should I leave around out?

Top answer

Gene93 Should I leave around out? Yes, I would. It is a supermarket, where sections are rather clearly identified.

Thank you. Does the inclusion of "around" make the sentence sound unnatural? I take it you would use around when nothing is identified. What if we were at the "kitchen and appliances" section and I said to you "Let's look around for saltshakers"? The section is identified, but we are looking for something specific.
