I take "to live easy" to mean to survive comfortably without the expense of daily effort.

"Off the work of others" is a socialist viewpoint of the evils of Capitalism. Those who have lots of money can invest it in other people's ventures, where others are performing the labor.

Hi,

'Live easy' is not an expression I remember hearing or reading.

The closest I can come with the word 'easy' is the idiom 'He is (living) on Easy Street'.

And the livin' is easy.

I assure you, this sort of thing is not unique to socialism. There's plenty of it going on right here in North America!

I apologize for the political remark. I'm not a political person. The quote which was asked about seemed to be more about politics than about life - to the extent that one can separate.
But I assure you that as a child of the cold war I've cherished the opportunity to "meet" some of you from the "other persuation." Here's to ya!
