To leave something aside

Hi,
today I had to explain to my customer that we will discuss the details of the stand regarding colours of the carpet, only after calculating the price. Please check my sentence if it works.

"Please let´s leave it aside for the moment, we will talk about the colours later after calculating the price"

I´d like to know if "to leave it aside" is OK

Thanks

Pamela

Pamela81 I´d like to know if "to leave it aside" is OK I wouldn't use it. To my ear, it's not idiomatic. " Pamela81 Please let´s leave it aside for the moment Yes, you'll hear native speakers say this, but it wouldn't be said by an "educated" person.

"to lay it aside" is what I need. Thank you!

Pamela81 I want only to postpone it.
"Postpone" is the word! I just couldn't think of a way to fit it into your sentence!

Pamela81You have mentioned that "to leave aside" is not wrong but is not polite.
Hmmm, I can't find where I said that. I meant to say that it's "low register -- uneducated." I could be wrong about that.

Perhaps something like, "Let's leave aside personal differences for the moment" would be a natural usage.

You didn´t use "not polite" but you wrote that it wouldn´t be said by an educated person, so I deducted that it is not polite :-)

That´s fine Avangi, all is clear!

Thanks

I tend to use "set aside".

Let's just set that aside for the moment. We can talk about that later.
