to leave

One title of a BBC news wrote "Jon Stewart to leave The Daily Show". Why use "to leave" here? Should the whole sentence be "Jon is to leave..."?

Top answer

Yes. Headlines often omit words, to save space. News is uncountable, so you can't say 'a news'.
