Question

Am Sivasaravanan Nagarajan new to USA, Software Consultant, need to improve my fluency and also i want to correct my grammatical mistakes. i find too difficult too understand the pronunciation people speaking here, also i couldnt get the same.. i need to be train in that.... Friends please Help me out this.

I hear you're having trouble understanding American pronunciation.

Some people find it helpful to listen to TV with the closed captioning on, or watch American movies with the English subtitles on.

You could also go to the public library and take out a book along with a recording of the book. You could listen to the recording while you read along in the book.

You could take an adult school class or a community college class in a subject you already know. If you already know the subject, you won't have to listen to what the teacher is saying. You can focus on how he is saying it instead.

Take a yoga class or a dance class or a tai chi class.

Look in the paper or on Craig's list for free community events. Go on a hike or a bike ride, attend a lecture or a poetry reading.

Borrow your neighbor's dog and take it for a walk in the dog park.

Go to the senior center for lunch. (Google it or look it up in the phone book.)

Hang out at Starbuck's. Smile. Say hello to people.

Is there something you'd like to buy? Look it up on the internet, then call the customer service line. Ask questions about the product.

Volunteer for Habitat for Humanity.
