To know or to speak?

Hello,

Which of these two sentences sounds more natural?

How well does she know French? She knows French very well.
How well does she speak French? She speaks French very well.

They are both valid questions and have slightly different meanings. I guess it's possible you could KNOW French but not be able to SPEAK it well. Generally the SPEAK sentence would be used more often.
