To keep in mind

Dear all,

can some English native speaker tell me if he would use such a sentence:

"Keep in mind to pay the electricity order"

Maybe you would simply say "don´t forget"?

"Don´t forget" it wouldn´t be enough to express what I mean...

What do you think?

Thanks for helping

Hi, I wouldn't use keep in mind nor bear in mind here. Apart from the fact that they do not convey the meaning that you want, they do not collocate with the to-infinitive. Don't forget to pay for the electricity order - This sounds OK.

Dear Regards,

thanks, I guessed it, but I need a different verb. I cannot imagine that "don´t forget" is the only way to say the concept.

It what case would you use "keep in mind" ?

Thanks

Hi,

It is imperative (= very important) that you remember the payment for the electricity order.

You have to solve this equation within two minutes. Keep in mind that mathematicians consider it

Dear Regards,

thanks. BUT....

You wrote:"You have to solve this equation within two minutes. Keep in mind that mathematicians consider it quite difficult"

I would replace "keep in mind" with "remember" and I guess it would be the same meaning ? right? So if I do it, why can´t I use "keep in mind to pay the electricity order" ?

I hope I was able to express my dou

Hi,

Keep in mind is not followed by the to-infinitive, that is, you can't create sentences that start with

keep in mind to... It's not English to do so. You can keep in mind something or someone.

You have to keep in mind that English often has a large number of strict rules. Even if they

don't seem correct, we have to abide by them.
