To involve something

Dear teachers and native english speakers,

please check this sentence and tell me if the use of the verb "to involve"is used correctly and if can be replaced by "to cause".

"Dear XXX,
we can reduce the height of the banner to a height of 3,5 m in order to abide the regulations set by Messe, but this change will involve an increase of the price"

My doubt is regarding the future tense "will involve" and the use of "to involve" here.

Thanks

Pamela

5 m in order to abide by the regulations set by Messe, but this change will involve an increase of the price. "will involve" sounds okay to me, "will cause" works as well in this context (even though it doesn't mean the same as "involve").

  • 5 m in order to abide by the regulations set by Messe, but this change will involve an increase of the price.
  • "will involve" sounds okay to me, "will cause" works as well in this context (even though it doesn't mean the same as "involve").

...we can reduce the height of the banner to (a height of) 3.5 m in order to abide by the regulations set by Messe, but this change will involve an increase of the price.

We can reduce the height of the banner to 3,5 m to conform with municipal regulations, but this change will involve an increase in (the) price.
"Will involve an increase..." is fine. Use of the article "the" is optional. Use of a comma as a decimal point is acceptable in many European nations but most English speakers will use a period (.) as the decimal point (3.5 vs. 3,5).

Hi John, I always wanted to know the optional part (the) you mentioned here. When can "the" be optional. Ideally, how many "the" should be in a sentence? Thanks for your answer.
