I suddenly came up with the question of how to infinitive used for adjectival phrase is analyzed syntactically. Here is an example, ; I have a book to read. Is there any particualr movement rule applied to this sentence such as tough movement OR is this sentence kinda ellipsis(I have a book + to read a book = 'a book' deletion?) ??
Top answer
'What do you mean 'tough movement'? Are you in need of a laxative? I have a book to read = I have a book for the purpose of reading.
