Hello,
Does the sentence with "ignore" sound odd to you: "He ignored all of us because of his bossy girlfriend. What's wrong with him? She's walking all over him."
It sounds fine to me and I think that there is nothing wrong with the use of "Simple Past" but some people disagree.
