Vocabulary

to identify the shift of mode in operation

1. I have copied the following text exactly as it is from a book. I think it must say "his architecture" instead of "my architecture". Am I right?

2. Does the highlighted section mean "it is important for us to recognize what has been changed in his method, in spite of what he has maintained the same as the past" or "it is important that Alysverifies his own change of mode in his activities"? Does "in operation" mean "in his activities"?

Context:

Whilst Alys tells Goldberg that he has ‘in a way maintained the methods of my architecture days’, it is important to identify the shift of mode in operation.
