I went to the home of my good friend for dinner.

So we can use the "to" for the "home" just because there is the definite article before the "home", right?

Look at the difference:
These patterns are fine:
I went home. (Home is an adverb.)
I went to the home of my friend. (Home is a noun.)

X I went to home. (wrong)
I went to the home. (unnatural)
