To his ranking?

Hello all

If a player wins e.g. Shanghai Rolex Masters 1000, he gets 1000 points to his ranking.

Can I use this phrase " to his ranking" or would you write it otherwise? I know it is more about tennis terminology but there is no other place to ask this question.

Thank you in advance Emotion: smile

Sounds odd to me.
I'd say eg he adds 1,000 points to his ranking.

Ok thank you. So as I can see "to his ranking" is ok.

However there is something wrong with "he gets" ?

Would it fit more to use "he gets" if it weren't followed by "to his ranking"?

teechrif it weren't wasn't followed by "to his ranking"?
I am sorry but in this case I can use both wasn' t and weren' t.

To my original question:

- If a player wins the Shanghai Rolex Masters 1000 he gets/adds 1000 points.

- If a player wins the Shanghai Rolex Masters 1000 he gets (adds) 1000 points to his ranking.

. . . he gets 1,000 points.
This is OK as long as the reader knows you are talking about his ranking.
