To help (no preposition? never?)

I dont understand why you say "he helped carry it" instead on putting any preposition like "he helped to carry/ on carrying"...thanks!

All of these are correct.

He helped carry it.

He helped to carry it.

He helped with carrying it.

Both are possible:


- He helped me to carry the bags.
- He helped me carry the bags.
