Vocabulary

to give/express support to something

Hello,
Can people give support to proposals/causes/etc, or express their support for them? I think that we can give support to people in order to encourage them. "A lot of people have gathered to express their support for the proposal/to give their support to the proposal." I personally think that "express" sounds better. What do you suggest?

I would use "show" in that context. A lot of people have gathered to show their support for the proposal. Hamid

Yeah, it just came to me Emotion: smile. Thank you. Give definitely sounds bad to me, but how about "express"? Is it unacceptable?
