To give the OK for doing something

Dear all,

I would like to know if it is possible to say the following sentence:

"please give me the OK so that we can go ahead"

I´m asking if "to give the ok" can have the meaning of "to allow"

Thanks!

Hi, I think that's exactly what this idiom should express: permission. - DJB -

Hi!

I´m not sure I got what you mean. Do you mean that it is possible?

Thanks

Hi,

You ask me if your sentence can mean 'to allow'. Allowing something is the same as giving permission for something. So yes I agree it's possible.

E.g. John asked his boss to give him the okay so that he could go ahead with his project. (John asks for his boss's permission).
