Vocabulary

to get something clear/straight

Hello,
Would both sentences sound fine? Here they come:
- Let me get this straight: you are not coming with us!
- Let's get this/something absolutely clear: you are not coming with us!

I was thinking of using "make", but I think it's used in slightly different contexts. We could say: "He made his intentions clear yesterday.", but "Let's make something crystal clear: you are not going to get any help from me!" would sound odd, wouldn't it?

One last question. A while ago I was told that "Let me get this straight" means "Let me see if I understand correctly". It's about me, not someone else. OALD ,however, begs to differ. It says "to make sure that you or someone else understands a situation". For some reason I think OALD's definition is incorrect.
