To get hoop

What is the meaning of the Irish phrase "to get hoop"? It's at the end of this paragraph:

Rafferty had a good voice, rich and warm with a windswept tinge of Galway, like some rugged islandman in an old movie who would probably end up with Maureen O’Hara. I was willing to bet that this guy got more hoop than he could handle.

I think it's slang that means he got more *** . . , but I've never heard anyone say that.

"Hoop" seems to be Irish slang for a hole in your body, especially the ****. I guess this is that other hole girls have. Or it could be cognate with the vulgar American "***", meaning "***", as in "He got more *** than he could handle."
