To get ahead of ourselves some

Please why did the author put 'some' next to the idiom 'get ahead of ourselves'?

"Extension is important because it shows that children are working on their language, constructing it creatively. To get ahead of ourselves some, you can also see this in morphology when children learn irregular past tense verbs like went as wholes and are then confronted with the regularity of -ed."

Thank you
