Is it correct to say "The small wardrobe couldn't fit all his clothes"? Is it not better to say "The small wardrobe couldn't hold all his clothes"?

However, I might also say

All his clothes couldn't fit in this/that/the small wardrobe.

I know for certain that we can say "His clothes couldn't fit into the wardrobe". I am just not sure about "The wardrobe couldn't fit all his clothes."
