Vocabulary

to finish/to be finished

Hello,
Which sentence sounds better to you and can you detect any nuances? Here it is:
- The builders have been working on this project for two months now. When will they be finished/finish?
I don't think "...will they finish" is wrong, but it looks somewhat bare to me. I think both sentences are acceptable. What do you think?

Thank you.

Both are fine and common. The first is a condition while the second is an action. I prefer (slightly) the action.
