To finish school

Hello,
In my experience people use these sentences most often:
- What time does your school finish?
- What time do you get out of school?
- What time are you done with school?

A friend asked me if we could use "get off" or "What time do you finish school?"
Get off implies a job (in my opinion). As for "What time do you finish school?" my feelings are mixed. Some people think it's okay, others say it's more about the end of the school year.

Interesting. A few years ago a person from the USA told me that "What time does your school finish sounded better", it obviously doesn't.

Thanks, Clive.

This was the preferred expression in the little town where I grew up years ago.

What time do you get off school?

It's not the most elegant English, but you might still hear it.

You're thinking of the intransitive use. There's no 'school' or 'work' as an object there.

Now get your mind out of the gutter and proceed as if we hadn't had this discussion.

That's what it's all about. Emotion: big smile

Enough said.
