to feel like that/ or this/that way

Hi,
Do both of them work in: "I wanted to know why he was sad and he sad he had felt that way/like that for weeks."

I don't think I'd say that, but I have a preference for "that way".

Gene93I wanted to know why he was sad, and he said he had felt [that way/like that] for weeks.
Both are OK. Personally, I have no preference.
