Isn't wonder used as a transitive verb in the phrase wondering about the future, where about the future is used as an object?

For example: What are you doing? I'm just wondering about the future.

I'm just wondering about the future.
'about the future' is not the object of the verb; it is an adverbial element, an adjunct, that desribes, modifies the verb 'wondering'.
