To entertain a doubt

"He can't even entertain a doubt"

Hi, I'm not sure what it means by doubt because there's not a particular meaning that refers to a person. Is it an idiom?

Thank you

To entertain doubts is an idiom meaning be unsure about something . This sentence might mean He is unable to believe he might be wrong about something , or it might be a joking way of saying that he is very boring. Unless the context suggested the first, I would guess the second.

It is an idiom.
"entertain" has the unusual meaning of "consider" here, not "amuse". He isn't trying to amuse a doubt.
