To end or to finish?

Hi,how would you say in English the following sentence?"I´ve decided to end (to finish) ? a relationship that had no future" Would you say something like that?Thanks

"I´ve decided to end (to finish) ? a relationship that had no future" Would you say something like that?

Say '. . . has no future', because you haven't ended it yet. The relationship still exists.

'Finish' is OK, but I hear 'end' more often with this kind of meaning.

It's quite a common thing to say.

I assume you are talking about a lover and not about a business relationship with a customer.

If I want to explain that this person has some bad characteristics, could I say as follows?

"I don´t like some aspects of his character"
"He has some bad characteristics"
"His characteristics don´t meet my requirements"

Please check all 3 sentences and tell me how would you say them correctly.

Hi,

Those 3 sentences are OK..
You can say that kind of thing in many ways.

eg He's a nice guy, but there are some things about him I don't like.

eg He is a ****.

You finish a painting, a letter, or a project because these are activities that have a final product.

thank you Clive. I really thought that my sentences were correct. Great to know that in this case I wasn´t wrong translating word by word from Italian language.

About your last suggestions, the first one is very simple to understand, so ok but the second one I assume that can be said only between friends............
