To dupe something out of somebody

Hi -- I have a question about the use of the verb 'to dupe.' Can you dupe something out of somebody? Example: I duped him out of $20. Thanks!

The standard form is You dupe somebody.

eg Tom duped Mary into lending him $20.

eg Tom duped Betty out of $20.

Your example is correct, but the form of it is "to dupe someone (out of something)" not
