Vocabulary

to deviate/depart/stray from the plan

Hello,
How would you differentiate between:
- He never deviated from his original plan.
- He never departed from his original plan.
- He never strayed from his original plan.
What are the nuances here?

Thank you, GPY. I have one last question. I just read that "deviate" implies that he deliberately changed the plan, whereas "stray" could mean that he wandered away from it a little.

I am not saying that's incorrect, but we can't change a plan unintentionally, can we? How could we do that?

To make it clear that the deviation/straying was unintentional, I think I would want to add a word like "unintentionally" or "accidentally".

Thank you. I assume that they are both pretty neutral and the context would make that clear, yes?

Thank you for your help and time, GPY.
