To complete my happiness, I (got) married early.

When I was in my 20s, I had a good career in a Swiss company. I earned a high income and enjoyed a good life. To complete my happiness, I (got) married early.

1. Is the sentence in bold OK?
2. Which is better - 'got married' or 'married'?

Thanks.
