Hello,
Opportunities usually arise (at least I think so). Can "come up" be used instead? "When an opportunity comes up"?

Gene93 Opportunities usually arise (at least I think so). Can "come up" be used instead? 'Come up', like many phrasal verbs, is an informal equivalent for a more formal verb, in this case 'arise'.

I have seen people use "When an opportunity shows up." I tend to use come up instead.
