Could you check out my explanation for to collect and collecting in the following sentences? Thank you for your help.
A. One of my hobbies is to collect buttons.
B. One of my hobbies is collecting buttons.
The sentence B is better than the sentence A. However, I often hear that my hobby is to collect buttons or To collect buttons is my hobby. I think that " to collect" is a infinitive which signifies the meaning of future and " collecting " means the routine activity. My conclusion is that the A and B sentence are correct, but the meanings are slightly different. I would like to know If there are other good explanations.
