Vocabulary

to cause a lot of happiness

Hello,
Does the sentence: "The birth of their grandson caused a lot of happiness in the family" sound odd? I probably must use "bring happiness", but does this version sound too bad?

Thank you

Thank you. Yes, I am familiar with this construction. Could you tell me what is wrong with "cause"?

It does not collocate naturally with "happiness."

But it does with other emotions, doesn't it? At least that's what some dictionaries say.

Possibly, but your question was about "happiness", wasn't it?
