To bs

What are the benefits of publicness (through Twitter, Facebook etc.) the author asks and quotes someone's answer:

"The best part about being public is that I can't BS any more: too many are in a position to call me on it."

from Public Parts by Jeff Jarvis

What does "can't BS any more" mean? To cheat, or lie to sb? And I guess "call me on it" means "critisize me", right? Thanks in advance

It's an abbreviation of the coarse expression bull sh*t . You are right about it meaning to lie or attempt to deceive. Call me on it means challenge me to justify my statements or see through my waffling .
