Vocabulary

to bounce out of your seat

Hello,
Would it be correct to say: When dad slammed the brakes, we were bounced out of our seats/we bounced out of our seats? I think I might use "jolt" instead, but bounce might work as well.

I hope it doesn't sound too bad. Thank you Emotion: smile.

'Bounce' is just too pleasant a word. Use 'jolt' if you wish, but I would use 'throw'.

It's not about what I want to use. I'd like to use something that sounds natural.

I have told you that 'bounce' is wrong.

What I would find natural is that "whenever Dad slammed on the brakes, my seat belt barely stopped me from being thrown against the dashboard/front seat." Of course, that's because in Canada we must wear seat belts.
