To book tickets for/to the boat

Hi all

Would you say "We booked tickets for the boat" or "we booked tickets to the boat"? A short explanation of your answer would be greatly appreciated, too.

We bought ticket for the boat. <-- this is more natural than saying booked.

"to the boat" in your example is NOT correct.
