'To bleed blue'

What in the world does that mean?

Either it means something of which I am totally unaware, or it is a mistake. [guess: bleed until there's nothing left, as in finances? ]

Hi,

What's the context?

Are you perhaps reading about royalty or aristocracy? Such people are traditionally said to have 'blue blood', and are even referred to as 'blue-bloods'.
