which one is correct?

OR

A quick Google search shows:

"The University is committed to become a" - 5 results

"The University is committed to becoming a" - About 2,800 results

I agree with Clive (and Google) that "committed to becoming" is the better choice. "Becoming" (to me) shows that it is an active process, and not an immediate result.
