To be yellow

I have just read a short story called "Yellow" by Peter Carty, and here the main characters keeps telling himself that he is yellow. Normally the colour yellow is associated with falseness and that also fits well with this story, but I just wonder if there is another meanining to this saying.

The meaning of yellow in regards to the movie "I Am Curious, Yellow" has a connection to the colors of the Swedish flag (yellow and blue). There was a follow up named "I Am Curious, Blue". The film was important in that it broke ground for what could be shown in film and TV in those days. Mixed with the semi-*********** were also elements of criticism of the society and deeper meanings.
