to be typed (type: category)

Hi,
Is the following use of the verb 'type" derived from the noun 'type' meaning 'category' possible?

Naps can be typed in three different ways.

Thank you

Do you mean "naps" as in "short periods of light sleep"? Yes, if naps are considered to belong to different types, then it is possible to say that they "can be typed". In isolation, the sentence feels to me a little hard to read.

  • You might consider saying it another way, perhaps using the word "categorised".
  • On the other hand, in a full context it would probably be clearer.
