To be taking a degree in something

Hello,

Does "I am currently taking a degree in Biochemistry" sound natural to you? I think that "pursuing, studying for, doing, etc" sound a little better, but I might be wrong. To me, "to take a degree" means to receive/get a degree.

What do you think?

Thank you.
