"to be short for"

I found the following in my dictionary:

"In I'll be with you in a mo, 'mo' is short for 'moment'.

What grammatical category is the word 'short' in the sentence? After all, it follows the verb 'be', yet I haven't found a noun 'short' meaning a short form of a noun.
