Does "to be posed by" mean "that is caused by" or "that should be caused by" here?

red apple Does "to be posed by" mean "that is caused by" or "that should be caused by" here? I wouldn't say that "caused by" is quite the same as "posed by", but, ignoring that, I think the first of these suffices. I don't see a reason to include the word "should".
