To be or... what else?

I learn English as a 2nd language at a university where we get a lot of essay assignements. My problem is I write too much "to be"s and can't find a way to replace it. What words can be used to omit repetitions? Please, give as many examples as possible.
Thanks.

I'm not talking about a particular piece of writing. I mean sth like this: "This is Anna. She is pretty. She is waiting for Bob." And I don't mean converting those sentences into one but cases in which "to be" cannot really be replaced.
Sorry for being inaccurate.

There's nothing wrong with using 'be' a lot. It's probably the most common verb inn English.
What you need to do to improve your writing is to avoid a string of short sentences. It tends to seem child-like.

I see your point but my teacher wants us to use as many synonyms of as many words (verbs, phrases, etc.) as possible. She may want us to do our best but there's no way we could convince her to your point. Having said that, my question concerns more pleasing my teacher rather than improving my academic writing.

Thank you all for the answers, though they weren't the ones I'd expected.
However, if anyone found any synonyms of "to be" and wrote them here, it would be much appreciated.

You will not find synonyms for many uses of "to be" as Alphecca has stated above.

To be, or not to be; that is the question.

Perhaps the most famous quotation in English, a 10-word sentence with 3 occurrences of "be."

The alternative might be "exist," but Shakespeare wisely chose not to use it.
