To be in present or past?

Hello,

I'm a bit confused about the use of to be whether in present or past in the following sentence. It looks like past as the person is dead, however the fact is still true at the moment. Or both of them (was/is) are quite possible in the sentence below.

"The full name of Lady Di ______was_____ Lady Diana Frances Spencer."

Thanks,

Either one works for me, though 'was' seems a bit more natural.
