Vocabulary

to be in contravention/breach of something

Hello,
I assume that contravention would sound much better, but can we still use "in breach" instead of it in the sentence below?
- By accepting the money, she was in contravention of company regulations.
- They have acted in contravention of the terms of the treaty.

There are many more natural ways to phrase it: By accepting the money, she was violating / disobeying / breaking / contravening / [at odds with] / [not complying with] company regulations.
