To be honest vs being honest

Hye could anyone please help me with this . What is the difference between these two?

"To be honest with you" and "being honest with you "

and how could i use them and in which situations?

Can i use them by substituting them with each other?

THANKS!

They would both be used in the same situations and they are synonymous, but I have never heard anyone use the '-ing' form as a comment clause.

To be honest with you is a set phrase, to introduce an opinion that the other person might not agree with. It's meaning is similar to "confidentially" or "honestly."

A: Would you like apple strudel for dessert?

B: To be honest with you, I never liked apple strudel very much.

"Being honest with you" is not a substitute; it is used in sentence
